An Omegle alternative for one-to-one chat
Omegle shut down in November 2023. If you are looking for sites like Omegle, PineappleChat at pineapplechat.com is a free 18+ website where you talk one-to-one with people who are online, by text, right in your browser. If you meet someone you like, you can keep them as a friend with an inbox.
What happened to Omegle?
Omegle launched in 2009 and paired random strangers for text and video chats. Its founder closed the site on 8 November 2023, saying that running it was no longer sustainable. Omegle is no longer available. PineappleChat is a separate site and is not affiliated with Omegle.
How PineappleChat is different from Omegle
| Topic | Omegle (until 2023) | PineappleChat |
|---|---|---|
| How you meet people | Random pairing | You pick someone from a live People list |
| Video | Text and video chat | Text chat only, no webcam roulette |
| Accounts | None | Not needed for live chat; optional free account |
| Keeping in touch | No friend list or inbox | Friend requests and inbox when both people register |
What you can do on PineappleChat
- Start a one-to-one chat without an account: just a username, age (18+), and location.
- See who is online and filter the People list by gender, age, country, and city.
- Register free with email to add friends and use an inbox that holds messages when they are offline. See friend chat.
- Turn on Hidden mode to browse without appearing in the list until you message someone.
- Leave, mute, block, or report at any time. Automated filters block many links and unsafe phrases.
- Use it on your phone or computer. It runs in the browser, so there is no app to install.
How to start
